Navigated to google.com and looked for 'Add "Google"' in the search field drop-down, but this was not available.

Hi Markus, how did you remove google search engine? just from the preferences - which makes not show up in the search field drop down until re-enabled? if you re-enable in preferences - does it show back up?

Yes, I removed it from the list of one-click search engines in about:preferences#search And as I have other search engines added, I can not just click restore to get google back. So I went to google.com in the hope that I can add it via the 'Add "Google"' in the search field drop-down, but this was not available. I also tried "Add more search engines..." in about:preferences#search which redirects to AMO and provides a list of search engines where 3 say they are google, with the first having a 1-star rating and being experimental, the second being some modification, and the 3rd being "encrypted". So non looked like the "normal" Google I just had in Firefox before. (see attachment for my quest to get back a default search engine without a full reset)

STR:
- Remove built-in Wikipedia search engine in
about:preferences#search
. - Visit https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Main_Page
- Click
...
page action icon in location bar.
Expected:
Menu item "Add Search Engine".
Actual:
No menu item appears.
Same problem occurs for other built-in search engines; Google, DuckDuckGo, Bing, Twitter and eBay. Amazon is unaffected. When a search engine is already installed there is no option to add it so it might be confused by the engine being built-in.
Have to "Restore Default Search Engines" to get back removed built-in search engines. This does not remove user-added engines (Bug 1126435) but the user might not know this.
Summary: Can't add google to list of search engines after accidentally removing it → No option to add search engine via page action or search bar for built-in search engines that were previously removed
