(Keywords: crash)
User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 6.1; Win64; x64; rv:44.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/44.0
Build ID: 20160123151951
Steps to reproduce:
Firefox 43 upgraded automatically to Firefox 44.
Actual results:
Upon Firefox (×32) automatic restart after automatic upgrade no window at all.
Impossible to restart Firefox without Windows restart. Crashes again and again upon clicking links which worked perfectly until now. In one hour about 8 crashes, each time new Windows start necessary because the crashed Firefox is still in memory. Tried then to install manually, same result.
Expected results:
PLEASE RECALL IMMEDIATELY FIREFOX 44 FROM LAUNCH AND RELAUNCH FIREFOX 43. Version 44 does absolutely not run stable on my system (Windows 7 Pro ×64) !!!!!!!! (Note that I never had any problem with earlier versions and now I changed nothing such as add-ons or plugins).
With FF44, are you able to start it:
1) in safe mode:
https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/troubleshoot-firefox-issues-using-safe-mode
2) with a fresh profile:
https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/profile-manager-create-and-remove-firefox-profiles
If that fails in both cases, can you downgrade to FF43, then type about:crashes in the location bar and copy here some crash report links (bp-...).

Hi, I installed Firefox 43 again: no problems. Automatic Upgrade to 43.0.1, still no problems. Automatic Upgrade to Firefox 44: this time it started normally — but less than 2 minutes afterwards, crash. The whole process absolutely reproducible (I had trouble to deactivate automatic upgrade).
The one (but by far not only) link leading to the crash was
http://www.ovsicori.una.ac.cr/index.php/vulcanologia/camaras-volcanes/volcan-poas
For info: my security suite = F-Secure 16.1 (Antivirus 14.150 build 101, DeepGuard 5.0 build 580, E-mail Filtering 1.02 build 20399, Management Agent 8.30 build 43239, User Interface 17.00 build 246,
Virus Protection 11.00 build 21434)
Active Add-Ons: BetterPrivacy, Browsing Protection by F-Secure, CookieCuller, Flagfox, gui:config, Long URL Please Mod, Mozilla Archive Format, NoScript, QuickJava, Sort by Name Tweak.
Active Plug-Ins: Adobe Acrobat, ... (a lot but nothing special apart of maybe Nitro PDF Plug-In, which I use very rarely only, however)
Flags: needinfo?(bug)
Can you try to retrieve the crash reports from the page about:crashes please.
Copy the links only.

Sorry, there was obviously not even a single crash report generated: the newest one on the list was issued by Firefox 40.0.3 on Aug. 29, 2015:
https://crash-stats.mozilla.com/report/index/804ba7da-81fd-4fe5-b67f-b2e602160131
Please note that I had several small crashes since then ("Sorry, this should not have happened…") but there is nothing about them in about:crashes either (though the option "send crash reports" is activated).
Maybe the following description of what happens might help you: the Firefox window disappears completely, but firefox.exe*32 is still active in the Task Manager. Each time I try to start Firefox again from the desktop icon, no window appears, but there is one more session Firefox.exe*32 in the Task Manager. Killing all active Firefox.exe in the Task Manager does not help: Firefox.exe still starts windowless. Only after Windows restart Firefox 44 starts normally again, but only to disappear on the next click or shortly after.
The first crash of Firefox 44 (upon first automatic upgrade from version 43) was a heavy one (there were many internet pages open). I had to restart 2 or 3 times, was asked to reinitialise Firefox, then only the windows appeared and there was a folder with the links on the desktop. Not for long, however, it then crashed again.
I also tried to install and start Firefox 44 ×64. This seems to work when alone, but it refuses to start after crash of Firefox ×32, telling this is still active. Again here, only Windows restart helps.
My problem with version ×64 is that almost no plug-ins are installed, and I could not find some of them in the online plug-ins library. Will be a lot of work before I can use it. And no garantee it will then work error-free.
I am now taking holidays and will not be able to answer any further questions for 3 weeks.
At the moment, only Flash 64b is allowed with FF 64b, so if you need to use various plugins, install the 32b version.

Thanks - I suspected the ×64 would possibly not fulfill all my needs. Thus I will continue to use Firefox 43.0.1 ×32 as long as possible (Upgrade of course disabled), until the big bug is fixed.
Do you see some crash files (with recent date) in the crash folder of Firefox?

In addition, type about:support in the location bar and attach this page to the bug report.

Hi, I don't know what was wrong with version 44. I used Firefox 43 with disabled updates for a while then upgraded very recently to version 45.0.1. Everything is now OK again (no crashes), the very serious problem with endless crashes appeared only with version 44.
