Steps to reproduce:

run ubuntu 14.04 LTS 
run firefox; 
visit link going to youtube


Actual results:

firefox froze complettely loading 


Expected results:

firefox loaded page and showed video

In order to verify that the bug is in FireFox and not in Ubuntu supplied modifications I downloaded Firefox 44 (default install as served by main web page) and then made this backtrace when the lockup happened.

This backtrace is generated with Ubuntu's firefox but with a clean new profile.  I managed to get some of the debugging symbols so it should be more informative.

I've now tried this in a completely clean new account and the problem remains reproducable.  I guess one thing is that makes my install a bit abnormal I don't have flash/java etc. installed.

Hi Michael,

I have tested this on ubuntu 14.04 with Firefox 44 and Firefox Nightly 47.0a1 and I it works for me. 

Please download the Firefox Nightly from here: https://nightly.mozilla.org/ and retest the problem.
Please test if the issue can be reproduced in the safe mode of Firefox: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/troubleshoot-firefox-issues-using-safe-mode

Attachment: updates which seem to have fixed problem

This has now gone away on _all_ versions.  I suspect some media plugin crash that has been fixed by an automatic upgrade from ubuntu in the meantime.  The attachment shows what automatic updates were done in the meantime.

So given that I'm not able to reproduce this right now I and I see multiple (partly) firefox related fixes in Launchpad in the past few days I think this ticket can be declared over.  Marking resolved.
