I can't reproduce this - I searched google images for "wallpaper", clicked on the first result, then opened the "View image" link in a new tab (so the resulting tab is http://www.planwallpaper.com/static/images/i-should-buy-a-boat.jpg). Saving the image adds an entry to my downloads panel, and the image was stored to my Downloads folder on disk. Have you tried reproducing this problem in safe mode? https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/troubleshoot-firefox-issues-using-safe-mode#w_how-to-start-firefox-in-safe-mode

I was able to reproduce once with older Nightly (few days back) and my regular profile. After update I cannot reduce further.

After clicking OK in the save as dialog I've hit an error in the browser console in contentAreaUtils.js. I think this is a duplicate of bug 1243643.

Can you retry with the latest nightly?

You are right! My report is similar to bug 1243643 and it's now fixed on latest nightly.
I just reproduced it and didn't find that error. Everything's back to normal...
