Blank profile works OK, it breaks when I uncheck all one-click search engines and leave only Google.

I don't understand your issue. If you uncheck all the search engines in about:preferences#search, except GG, the dropdown list will only display GG as possibilty.
I see some error in browser console after removed all of search plugins except one on about:preferences#search, and search suggestions will not be fire. Fx45b3 on Win10. However, I didn't see a line, it doesn't have any requests and list items.

> Loic, it does not display _search suggestions_ if I choose GG only. _search
> suggestions_ are text lines as on screenshot.
