User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 6.3; WOW64; rv:44.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/44.0 Build ID: 20160123151951 Steps to reproduce: File --- Empty-Deleted. Actual results: Initially, nothing - i.e. I could still see the emails that were meant to have been deleted. On moving the mouse, there was screen corruption, as in the attached screenshot file (although the red rectangles in that image are my redactions, not the corruption). Expected results: The deleted emails should disappear, immediately and without any strange effects.
I am on Windows 8.1. x64, on the release version of Thunderbird.
What exactly is the screen corruption, described in words?

The screen corruption consists in the following. For some e-mails, only some fields are displayed. Those fields are (or, again: at least sometimes are the 'junk' and 'star' fields. Please see further the screenshot that I attached, which shows the phenomenon in action (and note that the display is correct at the top and bottom of the e-mail list, but not for a large swathe in the middle).

Component: Untriaged → Folder and Message Lists
Summary: screen corruption delete → All message lines not deleted from message list screen after File > Empty Trash
Does it happen with Thunderbird started in safe mode?
Flags: needinfo?(najoll)
Wayne: not really . . Let me explain. In safe mode, the deleted items folder shows no subfolders and only one e-mail. By contrast, in normal mode it shows subfolders and, at the moment, several e-mails. When, in safe mode, I deleted the lone e-mail (from my local folders?) via the File menu, it did indeed disappear. So: it seem to me that safe mode is not a proper test, because of the lack of a 'smart' trash folder.
