Cannot open mp3 play list files from the web.
Page goes blank and status bar shows Running Helper ...
If I save the .m3u file to /tmp then click on file then open it.
This will properly call the mp3 player application requesting the application to
use the .m3u file.

Are you running as root or as a normal user? Could you attach the mimeTypes.rdf
file from your profile to this bug using
http://bugzilla.mozilla.org/attachment.cgi?bugid=124677&action=enter please?
Thanks,
Boris
Running as a normal user.
Out of the 5 possible files with the same name hopefully this is the
mimeTypes.rdf you are looking for.
from /home/doc/.mozilla/default/hyewryye.slt/mimeTypes.rdf.

If your profile is named "default" then that's the right file..
It's misconfigured. You have the following helper app entry:
Type: audio
Extensions: m3u
Description: mp3 playlist handler
App: /usr/bin/xmms
Note the type. that should be "audio/x-mpegurl", not "audio".
Edited the mimeTypes.rdf as suggested in the last e-mail but I get the same
results.

Of course not. You edited the mimeTypes.rdf file, which is _not_ what I asked
you to do. Now it's even more broken, since you changed "audio" to
"audio/x-mpegurl" in only one place and not throughout. So now you have a
disconnected RDF tree...
Change that back to the way it was. Then go to
Edit > Preferences > Navigator > Helper Applications
select the correct entry, click "Edit" and change the type there.
Now only local files with words not numbers will open up.
They do not open with xmms the now open up with mpg123.
If I go to mp3.com and open up one of their genre it will try to open a file
called renaissance.m3u. This will go to a blank screen with Running helper ...
at the bottom. If I save this file to /tmp then do a file open and open the
file now mpg123 is playing the songlist not xmms.
If I try to open one of the m3u files at emusic.com I get the same results. If
I save the file to /tmp and open 349243.m3u the status bar shows "Running
helper .." then it goes to "Plugger: Hey, where did the file go?"
Please let me know what to do next.
Thanks again for all your help.

Hmm.. Doc, what build are you using? If you go to about:plugins in the url bar,
is plugger in the list? Is it listed as handing audio/x-mpegurl?
Seems the issue is with plugger.
I am currently using 3.2.
Seems that I will need to research the configuration of plugger.
I would say for now the issue seems to be with plugger and not Mozilla.
Plugger 4.0 is now avaliable.
Thanks again for all the help and direction.

No problem. After you deal with plugger, either resolve this bug WORSKFORME (if
it does) or comment with details about the new behavior, please.

Finaly Wiped the hard drive clean and upgraded to RH 7.3.
Now MP3's work fine with RH 7.3 and Mozilla 0.9.9.
Thanks for the help.
