"Almost done!" snippet is confusing if I'm already signed in, and a bit of a landmine.

In release, on the home page, I clicked the Firefox logo today, and up came a page [1] claiming I was:
"Almost done! Sign in to Firefox and you’re good to go."
and engaging me to interact with some buttons. Problems are:
1. I'm already signed in,
2. which isn't super-obvious (I did nothing) and contradicts the now annoying title.
3. I've never seen this page before, so maybe there's something missing
I need to fill in? Birthday? Firefox Accounts is now annoying me.
4. Obediently, I expanding everything. "What does it want?!"
Several buttons look related, passwords etc. but nothing missing or needing attention.
5. Confusion fades, and I realize Firefox Accounts is wrong, not me.
Firefox Accounts just wasted my time. Good thing it's not tempting
me with any DELETE ACCOUNT button at this moment! Oh, it is.
6. The safety password has been auto-filled? so I can delete my account in just two clicks total?
The temptation! (note how I got this far).
7. Good thing I'm not on a tablet, where expanding areas and fingers might have hit it by accident.
8. Good thing Firefox Accounts is not the same as Sync so I wont lose any info. Oh, it is?
If this doesn't sound fair, it probably isn't. I just tried to recapture how I felt in the brief moment that it happened.
TL;DR: Could this UX be tweaked for better retention?

Thanks for the bug submission. This snippet was a baseline a/b test we ran to get conversion rate data to help with the business case that snippets needs to be able to understand if a user has already signed up for a Firefox Account, which it can't now. The snippet only ran for 2 days and got the data that we wanted and we going to now focus on writing the requirements for snippets to be more intelligent.
When you sign up for a Firefox Account, you have to enter your birthday for legal reasons. It used to be "pick your age", but the firefox Accounts team changed it to birthday.
If you clicked the snippet and we already signed up, the screenshot in comment 1 is what you would see.

We have used this initial a/b test to provide the business rationale about why about:home snippets needs a bit more intelligence on the state of Firefox so that messages are relevant to a specific audience. For this test, there was no way that messages could be delivered to users that don't have a Firefox Account, so it had to be blanked to everyone. That's not great and the poor conversion rate and user feedback shows that.
Jean filed bug 1249814 to ask for this ability.

Thanks, btw should I file a separate bug for step 6, the auto-filled safety password? Unless there's a way to turn off auto-fill, there's no safety offered by asking for a password at all.
