I have exactly the same problem with Mozilla 1.0 and Solaris 5.8. I got Mozilla as a binary from the downloads page. Is there a known work around?
Problem still occurs with 1.0 release on both Solaris 8 and Solaris 9. As you can clearly see that both ld's operands point to invlaid addresses. This ld instruction occurs after the bne,a instruction corresponding to the first if statement in the code (which has shown to be true and is about to return NS_ERROR_FAILURE). Then a ba is issued to common ret instruction. I suspect this is an out of order ld. So it probably belongs to the next if statement. In anycase there is a bad pointer within this function. why is FreeServices being called startup?
moving out based on my workload. Yell, if you have a problem.

ok, a few things in no particular order * FreeServices is being called because it really isn't startup (stack trace fingers shutdown) that leaves two questions 1. why are we shutting down when the reporter expects us to be starting up 2. why are we crashing Reporter, if you're still around, could you try this: setenv NSPR_LOG_MODULES=all:5 ./mozilla read through the log and figure out what is actually failing. (you can attach the log and let someone else research it.) also, could you try building your own build (default build options would be good).

LOL this bug report is sooooo old. :-P I guess someone had to close it some time. Subsequently later versions of Mozilla now work on my Solaris systems.
