I'm not sure if this is a cookie problem or what, but nytimes.com has recently started logging me out whenever I close and restart the browser. This doesn't happen on any other site.

STR:
1. go to http://www.nytimes.com/
2. log in at the upper right
3. close the tab
4. restart the browser
5. go to http://www.nytimes.com/ again. The login status at the upper right now indicates that I am not logged in any more.

I recently had an issue where I was logged out of almost every site (just once), so maybe my cookies got in a broken state or something.
Note step 3 above. The weird thing is that if I leave nytimes.com open in a tab, then my login seems to persist across restarting.
Ah, but if I then reload the nytimes.com tab after a restart, I'm logged out again.
If I log into nytimes.com, then reload the tab, I remain logged in.
Summary: nytimes.com keeps logging me out → nytimes.com keeps logging me out after a browser restart
IIUC, session restore ("Show my windows and tabs from last time") will preserve session cookies across browser restarts *iff* the associated tab is open when you exit the browser. That might explain why you are logged out if you close the nytimes.com tab (step 3) before restarting the browser (step 4).

Is this a Firefox regression? Or perhaps nytimes.com just changed their login cookies to be session cookies?

That does sound similar, though I'm not getting logged out of bugzilla.

can you retest now that 1239671 has landed?

Seems to be working now, thanks. (Though I hadn't noticed it for a few days, so maybe the site or my session store changed somehow.)
