User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 5.1; rv:44.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/44.0 Build ID: 20160210153822 Steps to reproduce: I write a message with spellchecking dictionary set to polish. Actual results: Spellcheck dictionary is switching by itself to en-US and switches back to polish after switching tabs. It doesn't behave like this, when I'm using en-US dictionary. Expected results: That spellchecking wouldn't switch dictionaries by itself.
Did you test with a fresh profile with both dictionaries? https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/profile-manager-create-and-remove-firefox-profiles

I can confirm this also appears to happen for "English (Australian)". It appears that Firefox does not save the default dictionary preference. A workaround was found here: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/1228800
