RESOLVED DUPLICATE of bug 1149500

Details

(Whiteboard: [passwords:master-password])

User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 10.0; WOW64; rv:44.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/44.0
Build ID: 20160210153822

Steps to reproduce:

Set Master Password. Default home page to Yahoo, Bing or Google. Have saved a portal login for that site. Open browser but do not select login. Random master Password prompt will appear.

Actual results:

When the Master Password is set and the default home page has a saved login, the user will receive a Master Password prompt at a random time - even if not trying to login.

Expected results:

Understanding that there is something (assuming the login option) on these pages that makes the browser want to access the password storage and thus prompt for the Master Password - it should only happen when clicking the login links and the actual login password field is showing.

Another potential fix would be the ability to set a master password prompt when the browser is launched. If the master password is not entered, close the browser. There are a couple of Add-On's the purport to do this but they do not work as expected.
