RESOLVED DUPLICATE of bug 1245532

People

(Reporter: mikkelsr, Unassigned)

Details

User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 6.1; WOW64; rv:44.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/44.0
Build ID: 20160210153822

Steps to reproduce:

Go to menu item: Edit->Find->Search Messages
Select: Body Contains <Any search text>

It doesn't seem to matter which folder is being searched, and whether any of the other checkboxes are selected or not (Search Subfolders, Run search on server, match any or all of the following, etc. -- I've tried all combinations)

Actual results:

The search usually finds nothing, or sometimes, only finds a very small percentage of matches. It doesn't matter whether the string exists inside of quoted or forwarded text or not (I see that there's another bug report for that situation) -- the search fails to find the string.

Expected results:

Search should have found all instances where the string existed in the body of the mail message.

NOTE: I am using Thunderbird 38.6.0 with an exchange server, using IMAP. The protocols set are: port 143, connection STARTTLS, authentication NORMAL PASSWORD. Max server connections to cache is set to 5.

Note that otherwise, TB seems to work fine.

Body search in IMAP folders is known not to work properly, see bug 1245532.
