This doesn't really have much to do with the 'mute tab' icon. Can you explain where/how you run "streaming CNN" ? That is, can you provide a link to a page that you use to reproduce this issue? Also, on what kind of machine are you seeing this, are the speakers builtin to the machine (like a laptop) or into the screen (HDMI connected to a desktop PC) or external with their own 3.5mm audio jack, or something else still?
