If you context click (right-click, or click-hold on Mac) on the widget in the outliner header that's used to choose which columns are visible, you get two popups; one to choose outliner columns, and one which is a context menu. You get get into a nasty state where it's very difficult to dismiss the column picker popup.
Very frustrating bug, nsbeta1

So, column picker shouldn't have any context menu. What about column headers ?
Neil has a patch that also fixes this bug. Bug 116484.
Fixed along with 116484. But I'm still not sure if column headers and column picker should have a context menu at all.
I suppose that's up to the developer to attach the context menu to the body?
yeah, I think so marking as WFM
