125615 - subscribe list blank when trying to use quicksearch during initial group download

found using 2002.02.14.08 comm bits on linux rh7.2.

1. create a news account --i made one which uses the internal netscape server.
2. go to account central, click on "subscribe to newsgroups"
3. when the subscribe dialog appears, i immediately start typing a string [eg,
"mcom"] within the quicksearch field. during this time, newsgroups are being
downloaded per the progress bar at the bottom of the dlg.
4. wait until download is finished....

results: after the progress bar goes away, the group list is empty: no tree, no
results for the quicksearch either.

side note: wasn't able to repro this when i used news.mozilla.org --i think it's
because there aren't as many groups there, compared with the huge amount in the
netscape internal server.

This bug report is registered in the SeaMonkey product, but has been without a comment since the inception of the SeaMonkey project.
