User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; Intel Mac OS X 10.11; rv:45.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/45.0 Build ID: 20160303134406 Steps to reproduce: Either select Search pane in Preferences window or select "Change search settings" in search bar (Firefox version 45.0 running under OS X El Capitan 10.11.3) Actual results: Search preferences pane displays "Search suggestions will not be shown in location bar results because you have configured Firefox to never remember history" even when Firefox IS configured under privacy preferences to remember history. Expected results: Search pane should respect current settings in Privacy preferences pane when configured to remember history.

I can't reproduce it with FF45 on Win 7. To read "Search suggestions will not be shown in location bar results because you have configured Firefox to never remember history" in search options, I need to have set previously "never remember history" in privacy options (and restarted Firefox). Is it reproducible with a fresh profile? https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/profile-manager-create-and-remove-firefox-profiles

Clearing old needinfo request and closing the bug per comment #1 as well as I can't reproduce it either. Please reopen if you have updated steps-to-reproduce.
