Details

Need a shell script that you can run after you un-.tgz the binary. You can
probably just reuse the one you did for 4.*.

This would need to be hooked up to the packager makefile.

last I heard there was talk of creating a linux installer. do we still need
this bug, or can we resolve it as a duplicate of something you're already
working on?
There will be a GTK Linux GUI installer. The current plan is for non-GTK Unices
we will have a command line wizard.

Both the GUI and command line wizards will use the XPInstall engine and the
.xpis for the browser, mail, (maybe editor if its splits from the browser
eventually) AIM, spellchecker, fullcircle, security, and psm modules. The added
functionality will be that users can select which components they want to
install before actually downloading the .xpi modules containing the actual
files. This especially saves download time for home Linux users. Hope this
helps.
