Details

Noticed this on build 2002021413 when trying to chase another bug. Happens all
the time.

1. hover over a tab until a tooltip appears
2. hit cmd+w (or ctrl+f4) to close the tab

Expected: tooltip dies at the same time
Actual: tooltip remains around until it times out, potentially corrupted.

If, after closing the tab, you have the tab bar still visible, the tooltip is
uncorrupted. However, if the tab bar goes away, the tooltip gets random bits in
it. Not noise, but I can't figure out where the bits are coming from, either.
dupe/related to bug 116447?
In WinME as soon as you hit a key to close the tab the tooltip disappears.
I actually now think this will be cleared up by the fix to bug 120863; seems
like tooltips hanging out past tab close might be causing that crash.
This (rather trivial) bug is still occuring though bug 120863 is resolved. Now,
however, on 10.1.4 with Mozilla1.0 RC1 the tooltip is no longer corrupted if the
tab bar is hidden by closing the tab (only one page/tab remaining). The tooltip
still is not destroyed coincident with the destruction of the tab, but remains
until it times out.
Confirming tooltip is not closed with tab using RC1.

This affects me a couple times a week in Firefox now that I have learned to
middle click on tabs to close them. The tooltip of a just closed tab will
appear and block clicks to the tab below it.

But I think this may be a dup of bug 45497

Indeed, duping 5 years later.
