opening a new tab
Actual results:
new tab opens with the following error message:

Looks like you have an extension modifying the new page. Try Safe Mode: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/troubleshoot-firefox-issues-using-safe-mode
Yes, try safe mode then new profile too.

Sorry guys, I'm only a normal mozilla user and therefore hints like "try safe mode" or "safe new profile" don't tell me anything. On saturday mozilla worked normal and on sunday immediately the problem occurred. Therefore I assume that somebody has changed a feature within mozilla which should be corrected again.

Safe mode and new profile are basic troubleshooting actions, you can check the FAQ, it's pretty easy to follow the instructions to debug an issue with your current profile.

Thanks for your hints. I restarted mozilla in safe mode and the problem didn't appear. Then I deactivated one add-on after the other and found out that "GMX mail check" causes the problem.
