Users who are interested in contributing to Mozilla usually go through the "new" Contribute area: https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/contribute/ These users get sent automated messages via Basket, which is fine. However, some users are managing to access the "old" contribute code, and get sent automated messages like this: ==== From: contribute@mozilla.org <contribute@mozilla.org> Sent: [date] To: [deleted] Subject: Welcome to Mozilla! Thanks for your interest in helping with Mozilla's documentation and other writing activities. There are several ways you can help: Write Knowledge Base articles http://support.mozilla.com/kb/improve-knowledge-base Help with Mozilla Developer Network docs http://developer.mozilla.org/Project:en/How_to_Help Write about Mozilla-related topics on Wikipedia https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:WikiProject_Mozilla Thanks again for your interest and let me know if you have any questions about how to get started. Janet Swisher, jswisher@mozilla.com Technical Writer/Community Steward Mozilla Developer Network, https://developer.mozilla.org ==== This message is horribly out of date. I'm not sure how users are managing to hit this old code, but it needs to be deleted, updated to match the "new" messages, or something.
As per Bug 990227, some community sites are using the old embedded form. The canned response is here: https://github.com/mozilla/bedrock/blob/master/bedrock/mozorg/templates/mozorg/emails/documentation.txt
Hi Janet, Needinfo'ing Lucy to provide insight into pending changes to this system. I had heard this was going away in Q2.

Sorry to cross post from bug 1271422 (this bug seems more suitable on this issue) Some communities does use this email reply system as main welcome point to random new contributors (at lease we moztw do). We actively update the email contents, and rely on this to point people to different contact on different project (such as l10n owner, sumo owner or coding evangelism). After mozilla.org/contribute transition to new style, we cannot get in touch to help those new visitors now. And we will really rely on the embed version form which live on our own local site, and we also use this form for offline form. It's much easier to ask offline event visitor to sign-up on paper form, then we will filled it into online contribute form. Please don't remove it, or we will need another way to manually send out those onboarding mails.
