Details
User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux x86_64; rv:44.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/44.0 Iceweasel/44.0.2
Build ID: 20160214092551
Steps to reproduce:
Select an email that explicit contains a "Content-Type: ** charset=**" header, and try to change View -> Character Encoding to something different.
(The menu entry was changed to "Text Encoding" sometime between versions 38 and 44; this bug is present in all these versions.)
Actual results:
I can't. The Character Encoding submenu is disabled. If I select another email without "charset=**" it works fine however.
One workaround is to install the "Right Encoding" extension, then I can change it that way.
Expected results:
I should be able to change the Character Encoding to something else. Yes, the email explicitly states a charset but sometimes this is just wrong, e.g. for badly-dynamically-generated emails that include some content written in a different encoding.
As a user, I just want to read my damn email, regardless of what other people incorrectly think the encoding is.
