User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 10.0; Win64; x64; rv:45.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/45.0 Build ID: 20160315153207 Steps to reproduce: Opened the developer toolbar or GCLI-prompt bar in Firefox 64-bit Firefox 44 or 45 on Windows 10. This was attempted with a regular-use profile, a fresh profile, a user-created skin, the default skin, ATI Crimson Edition driver suite 15.21, and Crimson Edition hotfix 16.2.1, with the same result in all cases. Actual results: No icons are rendered in the bar (for example, the icon to close it), although clicking where they should be rendered does perform the expected actions. Expected results: The icons should be rendered.

I'm not sure it will change something, but could you verify in safe mode: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/troubleshoot-firefox-issues-using-safe-mode Did it use to work with previous versions of Firefox, like 43 or 42? http://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/firefox/releases/42.0/ http://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/firefox/releases/43.0.4/ Can you try with 45 in 32 bits? http://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/firefox/releases/45.0.1/win32/

The only add-on used in any of these test cases is Adblock Plus, and disabling it does not correct the issue, though icons do render normally in safe mode.

Can you see if the icons show up when the 'dark theme' is enabled in the developer tools toolbox? This reminds me of Bug 1236563, which is caused by Bug 1229375.
If it renders normally in safe mode, it's probably due to HWA. bz, can you test with HWA disabled in Firefox: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/forum-response-disable-hardware-acceleration (restart FF to apply) If that works, type about:support in the location bar and paste here the section "graphics".

Also, do you have an AMD R9 GPU?

Ty. So it's a dupe of bug 1236563 and would be probably fixed by Bug 1229375.
