From Bugzilla Helper:
User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (OS/2; U; Warp 4.5; en-US; rv:0.9.8) Gecko/20020204
BuildID: 2002020511

If one's news/mail window uses the layout in which the list of accounts runs
clear down the LHS of the window, and if one is looking in a folder with the
right number of messages, the body of the currently selected message (whichever
one it is) will be endlessly redisplayed, making it appear to vibrate and making
it difficult to read.

Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1. Edit>Preferences>Mail&Newsgroups
2. Choose the layout for the mail/news window on the left (with the panel that
runs all the way down the LHS).
3. Look at a folder that has the right number of messages--the right number
appears to be around the number that will fit in the window that lists the
message subject/date/sender/etc.

Actual Results: The body of the current message (whichever one it is; you can
select any of them and the same thing happens) is rapidly redisplayed, making it
very hard to read.

Expected Results: The message body should just be displayed once.

Running RH 7.2 on an Athlon XP 1500; using KDE as the window manager.
Deleting or moving a couple of messages out of the folder fixes it. Folders
with more or fewer than the right number of messages have no trouble; the folder
also displays fine in the mode that lets the message body run the full width of
the window. Actually, the proper characterization is "the right number of lines
in the window with the list of messages--opening or closing a thread will make
the problem go away. I'm guessing it's indecisive about whether to make a
scrollbar in that window.
dupe of bug 126129
this bug will go away if you install a more recent (nightly) build
Andrew, how can this bug be a dupe of itself? :)

I personally have experienced the same thing on one of Mozilla 1.0 release
candidates but cannot find any duplicates, so comfirming it with ease.

James Jones: are you still seeing this symptom? If so, does your situation bear
any similarity to the description of bug 131733?
Marking as duplicate; if anyone interested in this bug thinks otherwise, please
say so. As noted in that bug, there is a patch available at bug 201460 whicy
*may* address this issue.
