We do lots of invalidation and painting. It's not good.

So on the atom.io link at least, it looks like there's some code on the page that updates the URL as you're scrolling so that the URL points to the specific comment you're viewing. I suspect that code is also doing a bunch of other stuff that triggers invalidation, but I'm not sure what.
