So I'm on shift and I get :
Thu 05:22:31 PDT [5070] nagios.mozilla.org:HTTPS - SSL Cert expiration is WARNING: WARNING - Certificate nagios.mozilla.org expires in 5 day(s) (2016-04-20 05:00 -0700/PDT). (http://m.mozilla.org/HTTPS+-+SSL+Cert+expiration)

Would be nice to know who did the downtime and what message was added to the downtime (eg if it's a bug number I don't have to search bugzilla to find things nagios tells me directly).

Hope I'm clear in what I'm proposing.

For events of type DOWNTIMEEND, the NOTIFICATIONAUTHORNAME and NOTIFICATIONCOMMENT macros will (supposedly) contain the original downtime's author and comment.

But I don't know if that applies to our version of Nagios, nor if mklivestatus has access to that.

Can we get the same notifications for when downtimes are put in in another channel or automatically?

Currently we get:

 <@nagios-scl3:#sysadmins> Wed 14:00:54 UTC 
  rabbit2.releng.webapp.scl3.mozilla.com (10.22.81.93) is DOWNTIMESTART (UP) 
  :PING OK - Packet loss = 0%, RTA = 1.05 ms

Some info on who added that, why, and how long the downtime is for would improve that notification's usefulness.

Closing this in favor of a complete bot rewrite and a total lack of time for the foreseeable future.
