Steps to reproduce:

Software requested to update itself to new version


Actual results:

Got message stating that existing Lightning was incompatible would check for update.  Update was unable to be installed because it was incompatible with Thunderbird.  I attempted a manual update to Lightning 4.7 and several restarts with no luck.  Lightning keeps reporting that it's incompatible with Thunderbird.  When I tried to install using a file it failed with "There's an error installing Lightning.  Try again."


Expected results:

It should be compatible.
Summary: lightning 4.7 incompatible with thunderbird 45 → lightning 4.7 with thunderbird 45 errors "There's an error installing Lightning."
I have Lightning 4.7 with Thunderbird 45.1. Everything works fine.

Removed Lightning and Installed again without any errors

I removed the out dated Lightning, restarted Thunderbird, and then clicked the add Lightning 4.7 button from the add-on manager.  I restarted Thunderbird and it has the same message in the add-on manager to restart.  I have many times and I can't remove it.  See screen shot.
Upgraded to TB 45.1 and then I had to go into addons to enable Lightning.  Once I did then everything worked fine.  Although I have to say it's just a matter of time till I abandon TB and Lightning.  I waited over a year for the supposed 45.0 fix and then that didn't work and had to wait for 45.1.

It's just a matter of having the time to convert back to Outlook.  You just can't have such serious flaws in software and expect to keep your consumers.
Does it also happen with version 52?

I upgraded to 52.1.0 and installed Lightning.  I've restarted a couple times and same issue.  I've attached the error console messages if that helps.  Thanks

    
    

    
  
I didn't have the same problem.  Everything seemed to upgrade without problem in 51.2 which just updated yesterday.

    
    

    
  
Upgraded to 52.1.0. Removed Lightning 4.7. Installed Lightning 4.7 again. Everything worked fine for me.

I updated Thunderbird to 52.2.0 and then added Lightning 5.4 add-on.  When I restarted still no calendar and the error console messages look the same as the ones I posted a couple months ago.  Thanks for your efforts.

Is this even an issue anymore since the newer TB versions have been released? Did you try with a new profile? If you could kindly respond so that I can close or keep open this bug.
