Thanks for your report, however this does not look like a "bug" (a problem in the program code) but instead like a support request (changing the settings).
Support is provided on http://support.mozillamessaging.com/ - please take a look there and browse through the existing answers or ask a new question. Also see https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/1009047 - Thanks!

To elaborate, it's good to have feedback from you about about the new release. But at the very least you will want to use https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/safe-mode before posting a bug report. And in your case the problem may well be caused by an addon, that https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/safe-mode will help expose.

If you identfiy the exact cause of the problem - addon or otherwise - please post an update here in the bug report.

I disabled all addons & nothing helped.
all i remember to do before that happened (but quite a long time before)
was installing http://downloads.mozdev.org/mailtweak/mailtweak-1.0pre10.xpi
& seeing that the needed function didn't work i removed it, the problem with it
is that the bad experience i have with you devs, in this particular situation,
is when you ask me to restart a new profile & i don't wanna try that, for the simple
reason that i'd lose lots of addons preferences. & a few about:config true to false
mods.
That must have been many years ago. The details may vary by addon, but one typically doesn't lose preferences these days after removing an addon. Certainly won't by just disabling an addon or starting in safe mode.
then the topic's closed.
