Details

From Bugzilla Helper: User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; en-US; rv:0.9.8) Gecko/20020205 BuildID: 2002020511 when an ordinary browser window opens as the result of a hyperlink, that window is the default size, not the size last specified by the user. this is particularly annoying when the result of clicking a hyperlink in the Mail/News, because the resulting window is often the only browser window, which means the user-specifced size is set to this size after this window is closed. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. close all Mozilla windows. 2. open a Browser window and resize it (ie: 750x750). close it. this is now the user-specified default size every time a new browser window is opened. 3. open Mail/News. open an email/news article containing a hyperlink. click the link. __OR__ 1. same as above 2. same as above 3. goto http://www.mozilla.org/quality/help/bugzilla-helper.html 4. click login under step1. Actual Results: the resulting Browser window uses the original Mozilla window size. all subsequent Mozilla browsers opened also use this size. if this browser window is the last Mozilla window closed, the original default window size will override the last user-specified size. Expected Results: the resulting Browser window should use the last user-specified window size as the size of the new window, not the original default.

reporter, this sounds more like window manager behaviour than a mozilla bug what window manager are you using?
Sorry for the delay, Using red hats's distro of Sawfish 0.38-11 also occurs using twm.
can you still reproduce this with recent versions of Mozilla and sawfish?
THis sounds like bug 116610, which is fexed by now. Are you still seing this?
Hi. Sorry for the delay again. I am using Red Hat 7.3 which uses sawfish 1.x and Mozilla 1.0.0 and I still see the problem. It does sound the same as bug 116610 so I will try mozilla 1.0.1 to see if its the same bug.
Reporter, do you still see the problem with Mozilla 1.0.1 or 1.1 or 1.2a ? If you don't please close this bug as WORKSFORME. Thanks.
I upgraded to RedHat 8 which includes 1.0.1 and the browser windows now open to the correct size. I am not sure if this is b/c of the new window manager or a fix in mozilla, but it now works for me.
