User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Ubuntu; Linux i686; rv:46.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/46.0 Build ID: 20160425120036 Steps to reproduce: Went to Tools menu to maintain stored password list. Actual results: The entry has been removed from the menu. It took me several hours to find how to maintain the stored password; it has been moved to Edit/Preferences WITHOUT NOTICE. Expected results: Please make such changes more clear in the future. Perhaps, retain the menu entry in its accustomed place for one release, with a warning that it will be moved. That would be kinder to users. Thank you
Do you speak about the master password in about:preferences#security?

Not just the master password, but also the url/username/password list. Isee from the help info that you cited, that I can also have it insert a username/passwrod pair of my choosing. Good enhancement. However, my report was concerned with the consternation I felt when I went to the Tools menu, as I had been accustomed, and found the entire password maintenance facility was, as I perceived, GONE. I was unsure why, since it had been there the day before. I feared tghat some kind of malware got into my Firefox installation and somehow corrupted the menu. Thus, I started, in a panic, trying to determine what was going on. It was serendipitous that I accessed Edit/Preferences to see if I could somehow remove the supposed malware, and found Security, under which was located what I seeked. Honestly, I was quite scared until I found that. I think that you can see that the reason I didn't check help/about was that I suspected a malware problem. I think others may have similar experiences to relate, though I am not able to prove it. As a retired software and UI developer, I see such things as bugs in the GUI. I hope that you agree, and that future versions will ease the transition of such things by doing more than just insert information in some help file, that I, for one, didn't see anyway. Thanks for giving this rather long reply a read. -norisezp

Yes Master Password would be the best option. Im assuming you may have cleaned your profile which wiped your saved passwords clean. I will go ahead and resolved this issue.

I have never seen this entry to maintain the password manager in the Tools menu. I have old versions of Firefox installed on my Windows and there is not such an entry. Maybe some add-ons about password management add an entry in the menu but not Firefox natively.

For the record, I concur with the resolution of INVALID. What I now believe must have happened is that I used some facility that allowed me to add items to the tools menu. That is where, I now believe, the passwords entry that I am remembering came from. So, there is not a bug to be fixed. I apologize for the confusion that I have caused by this. Thanks to all for their patience.
