[Affected versions]:

Nightly 49.0a1(2016-05-12)

[Affected Platforms]:

Mac OS X
Windows

[Prerequisites]:
- Widevine latest version is installed.
- Only Widevine CDM plugin is active.
- User-Agent Switcher add-on is installed (https://goo.gl/FKb70f) and it is set to fake Chrome User Agent.

[Steps to reproduce]:

1. Start Firefox browser and go to netflix.com and start a video
2. The Chain link icon from the URL bar appears.
3. While the video is played click on Chain link icon and then click on "Configure"
4. Go back to the video

[Expected results]:
Video should play

[Actual results]:
After ~5 sec video stops

[Note] I also saw this bug on amazon.com
Summary: [Widevine] Video stops → [Widevine] Video stops when focus is changed
I can reproduce this issue whit a different scenario on Amazon videos.

[Steps]:

1. Go to http://www.amazon.com/b/ref=lp_2858778011_nav_shopall_aiv?rh=i%3Ainstant-video%2Cn%3A2858778011&ie=UTF8&node=2858778011 and open a video.
2. After playing a few seconds close that video.
3. Open the same video and click "Continue Watching". -> Video is playing from the point it was closed (OK).
4. Open a new tab and change focus to it then go back to the video.

[Expected Result]: The video should play.

[Actual Result]: The video stops. The "Pause" button is displayed (like the video is playing) but if I click it the video doesn't start. It only starts again if I refresh the page or click the forward/backward buttons.

[Notes]:
- Tested on Windows 7 x64, Windows 10 x64, Mac OS X 10.9.
 - Sometimes the video stops playing even without closing the video, and only switching the focus several times to another tab and back to the video.
We found another scenario where this issue can be reproduce it.

This bug sounds a lot like bug 1272422. I suspect this might be a regression from bug 1272422, which changes how media playback works in background tabs.

Ovidiu, can you reproduce this problem when playing Netflix on Windows using the Adobe CDM (i.e. when not using a fake Chrome User Agent)? If so, does this problem also happen in DevEdition 48?

Chris, the issue is no longer reproducible for me on any of the latest Firefox versions: Beta 47, Aurora 48 and Nightly 49 regardless if the used plugin is Adobe CDM or Widevine or if the User Agent Switcher is enabled/disabled (tried all the above scenarios on Netflix and Amazon). The issue is not reproducible on Firefox 46.0.1 and Adobe CDM neither.

Tested on Windows 10, Windows 7, Mac OS X 10.11 and Mac OS X 10.10.

I should mention though, that the image is "flickering" when switching from one tab to another (videos are playing in both tabs) on Mac OS X 10.11 and Windows 10 only on the latest Nightly 49. Should I log a new issue for this?

Thanks. I will mark this bug as fixed by bug 1272422.

Yes. Please log a new bug report for that issue. It sounds like a graphics bug. I wonder if it's a regression from the fix for "jittery video" bug 1260611.

Logged Bug 1273525.
Verified as fixed on Windows 10 and Mac OS X 10.11 on the latest Nightly 49.0a1 (Build ID:20160524073714) - changing the focus does not affect the video.
