This does not seem to be completely reproducible, so I'm trying to understand what causes it. Presently observing on Firefox 47.0b3 running on Ubuntu 14.04.4 LTS ("Trusty"), with a fresh profile: The bug's summary says it all: downloading something with a MIME type that Firefox cannot handle directly, choosing to save file, then choosing "show all downloads" (or control-shift-Y): a right-click on the history item shows a context menu in which the "Copy Download Link" item is inactive (greyed out). Note that it works in the list invoked from the downloads icon, it is from the separate window that it fails. (I don't understand how it even makes sense for the "Copy Download Link" to be inactive. Are there *any* circumstances in which this is desirable?)
I get the same issue with nightly 64bit on Windows 10
Confirmed on 47.0 final stable While downlaoding http://image.prntscr.com/image/54d4dbc2c4094753a7a0805342dcb598.png Canceled download, clear downlaod still grayed out http://image.prntscr.com/image/ce05a9e47b5749f9ab0f8e729b8212de.png
After discussions with various people and some experimenting, it seems like this bug is easily reproducible, across a wide range of platforms and versions. What made it seem to me that it wasn't is that sometimes the bug "goes away": then *all* the "copy download links" become active again, apparently for the remainder of the session. I was unable to understand what circumstances cause this "miraculous fix" to occur. But the bug itself is easy to reproduce. I don't know how to get Mozilla devs' attention on this (none seem to be watching this bug-report).
there is discussion ongoing in bug 1279329 so duping there
