Steps to reproduce:

Updated to Thunderbird 45.1 and then attempted to retrieve my email. (I'm using Windows 7 that has been updated to Windows 10 for about 6 months now.)

Actual results:

My gmail accounts were retrieved but my business email was unable to retrieve any emails (I could log into the webmail and see that the emails were there). I ended up uninstalling Thunderbird, reinstalling version 31.4.0 and then restarting my computer to be able to work again.

Expected results:

Email from my server should have downloaded as it has in the past. Unfortunately, the error console was cleared when I uninstalled and reinstalled the program so I can't give you the exact error that I was experiencing. But I know I am going to have to update again at some point in time and I'm afraid of losing 1/2 a days work again.

Ooops! Just noticed that my "write" is greyed out so I can't create new emails - but I seem to be able to reply to existing emails. This would be in version 31.4.0 which I had to install in order to receive my emails.

Same problem with Thunderbird started in safe mode?

Don't know, but I was forced to update again today so I bit the bullet and updated to the latest version and it's working just fine. Could have been a bug in my operating system at the time.
