Cannot copy text from a Word document and paste it into the email Compose page. To do this I need to Copy and Paste to a TextEdit document and then Copy and Paste to the email Compose window.

All my testing is on MacOSX
Confirmed using FizzillaCFM/2002041712 (RC1). Text copied from Word X, shown as Styled Text on the Clipboard, will not paste into a Composer document.

pink--this sounds like a clipboard problem. Any ideas?

we don't support styled text. if they don't also put 'TEXT' on the clipboard, there's not much we can do about it, and they're bad bad bad bad people.

From private e-mail exchange with Andy:

Perhaps we shoudl disable the paste item if the clipboard doesn't have a flavor
we can handle?

What version(s) of Word have been tested?

I'm using MS Office for MacOS X. It seems that Word does not put a text only version into the paste buffer.

Great :-( Well then there's not much we can do short term. Do we have any tools to detect what clipboard flavors Word makes available? We'll need that info to consider writing converterters in the future.

Re: comment 10, absolutely yes. The Paste menu item should not be enabled unless pastable content is on the Clipboard. Should I file a new bug about that?

I noticed that you have this ticket marked as MacOS X... Well, this happens on my WinXP machine on MS Word 2002 SP-1 with Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.3a) Gecko/20021123 Incidentally, I'm pretty sure Word converts information to its "Rich Text Format" when sending content to the Clipboard. Here's a link for how to turn something *into* RTF but it should be a good example of what word is putting on the Clipboard as well. http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=KB;en-us;q216676 Hope this helps.
