I just had an issue getting verification emails for an account I just created. When the mail finally came I verified on a different device. By the time I got around to this the polling appears to have stopped and push failed to change the account state to "verified" for reasons I don't understand. This meant that the browser considered the account as "unverified" even though it wasn't - but there was no way to trick the browser into re-checking the status. We should consider having the sync prefs page explicitly check the account status if it opens when an account is unverified, just in case the other ways of noting the state change failed as they did in this case.
