Description

User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 6.1; WOW64; rv:46.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/46.0
Build ID: 20160502172042

Steps to reproduce:

[Windows 7]
1. Create a folder on your Desktop (Foldername: test)
2. Install a legacy version of Thunderbird that needs an update to be the latest in this folder (i.e. 45.0), Uncheck "Launch Mozilla Thunderbird now" at the end of the installer.
3. Make this folder a network share with full read/write permissions for everyone
4. Map this folder in CMD: net use z: \\localhost\test
5. Start Thunderbird.exe from network share: z:\thunderbird.exe
6. Go to Help - About Thunderbird - Update to 45.1.0 - Restart Thunderbird
6. When Thunderbird restarts and tries to apply the update, it fails.

Actual results:

Error message appears:
Software Update failed
The update could not be installed. Please make sure there are no other copies of Thunderbird running on your computer, and then restart Thunderbird to try again.

Expected results:

Thunderbird should have updated itself.
