RESOLVED DUPLICATE of bug 1348750

People

(Reporter: anjeyelf, Unassigned)

Details

User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 6.0; rv:46.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/46.0
Build ID: 20160502172042

Steps to reproduce:

click on 'Write' to open new window to create email which already has a html signature added.

If Tools > Options > Composition has a preset HTML font eg: comic sans MS
OR
IF eg:'Comic Sans Ms' is selected using the 'Formatting Bar'

Position cursor before - on same line as the signature delimiter hyphens, then use the left or up arrow key to move up to the blank area where the content should be.
OR use the mouse to click and position cursor just before or after the hyphen (on same line) OR click anywhere in the lower signature and then click in the content area to start typing.

Actual results:

The preset formatting for the content area is removed and now shows 'Variable width'.

Expected results:

The preset formatting in the content area should not be removed.

This occurs regardless of whether 'Body Text' or 'Paragraph' is set as default.
This occurs in thunderbird Safe Mode.
It is reproduceable 100%.

This was reported by someone via support forum and I tested out all the variables to see if this was a bug.

I'm not sure if this has occurred since the update/fix regarding 'Paragraph' set as default issues.
I'm on Vista using TB 45.1.0
Please read bug 1270803 comment #1. The font (name) and font size mechanism are the same. You get the font were you click. If instead of starting to type your e-mail you click around the signature, the preset will not be available any more. That's nothing new in TB 45.

Suppling info just in case someone looks into this.
What occurs is the font and font size setting selected in Tools > Options > Composition
is overridden by the font and font size in this setting Tools > Options > Display.

However, the font colour set in Tools > Options > Composition continues to be used.

It does not pick up and use the font used in the signature.
