Is this the same issue as bug 1269786 perhaps? What is the window manager and libgtk-3 version?
Similar bugs have been reported for perhaps 10 years. The detailed descriptions vary. I have not seen a description exactly like this one. I am running the cinnamon desktop in fedora 23. All versions are at the levels in the repositories as of two days ago. Lightdm appears in the ps -ax output, but GDMSESSION=cinnamon. The installed gtk's are 3.18.9-1.fc23 and 2.24.30-1.fc23
Moving to p3 because no activity for at least 1 year(s). See https://github.com/mozilla/bug-handling/blob/master/policy/triage-bugzilla.md#how-do-you-triage for more information
