Govt. of India has made minor changes to name of State and Language. This is old news and needs corrections in all Mozilla software products where this language is referred to. This is with reference to Oriya language. The changed name of "Oriya" language is "Odia". Also, correspinding platforms needs to change this. For instance Pootle currently refers to it as "Oriya". (In reply to Chandrakant Dhutadmal from comment #0) > Govt. of India has made minor changes to name of State and Language. We need to split this up into different tasks/bugs. 1) Pootle: talk with the tech-team (I see Dwayne already CCed) 2) Pontoon: we need to talk with mathjazz (now CCed) 3) Bugzilla: get the bug component updated in Mozilla Localizations, and also the locale selector. 4) Firefox: I see references for fonts and languages https://transvision.mozfr.org/?recherche=Oriya&repo=central&sourcelocale=en-US&locale=en-US&search_type=strings_entities Not sure if there's something I'm missing.

We also have "Oriya" in various parts of our code, but that's not worth changing. Also, looking at wikipedia, many languages continue to use the old spelling in their language. I renamed the language on l10n.m.o. Also, product details?

I was looking at the code and there are indeed a ton of internal references to oriya. I guess it would be safe enough to change the key name and label here, but moving away for the value from "x-orya" would prove a lot harder http://mxr.mozilla.org/mozilla-central/source/browser/locales/en-US/chrome/browser/preferences/fonts.dtd#50 The other reference is in languageNames.properties http://mxr.mozilla.org/mozilla-central/source/toolkit/locales/en-US/chrome/global/languageNames.properties#138 Also not sure who's familiar with out internationalization code these days. @Chandrakant Can you provide the translation for "Odia Localization" and also the native name for "Odia"? I will file bugs for Bugzilla and product-details after that.

Changed in Pootle and will land a change in TTK. Note of caution. 'ory' seems to be the correct code for the language Odia, while 'or' is a macro language code. See http://www-01.sil.org/iso639-3/documentation.asp?id=ori and http://www-01.sil.org/iso639-3/documentation.asp?id=ory. You can see the 2015 alteration requests from those pages.

Francesco, is there a separate bug to update the in-product strings to the new name or did you intend for that to happen here?

(In reply to :Gijs Kruitbosch from comment #9) > Francesco, is there a separate bug to update the in-product strings to the > new name or did you intend for that to happen here? No, was planning to file a different one, a bit unsure to where it belongs. Anyhow, filed bug 1279910 in Firefox::General as a start.
