When we ship 45.8.0esr, create two rules:
** 1) Matches version < 45.8.0 and OS X 10.6-10.8, and points them at the Firefox 45.8.0 blob.
** 2) Matches version = 45.8.0 and OS X 10.6-10.8, and points them at the OSX-10.6-10.8-Desupport blob.

If we ship a point release, we need to update the first rule.

OK, that would be along with Firefox 53, shipping sometime in March 2017.

Need to split up parts 1 and 2. #1 will happen alongside 45.8.0esr. #2 will happen alongside 52.3.0esr. I moved that part to https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1293777
Summary: add OS X 10.6-10.8 deprecation rule when 45.8.0esr ships → add OS X watershed rule when 45.8.0esr ships

hi liz, can you confirm that we still need this for 45.8.0? I'm a little confused because we did an extra esr release during Hawaii iirc.

Anyway, I currently made a watershed against 45.7.0: https://aus4-admin.mozilla.org/rules/523

If we want to watershed and hold 10.6-10.8 macOS users at 45.7.0, there is nothing to do and we can close this bug, leaving the follow up of part 2 to bug 1293777. If we want those users to get 45.8.0 (monday's 45 esr release?), then we simply bump rule 523 to point to 45.8.0 on monday and then close this bug.

As far as I know, we intend to keep supporting ESR45 users and shipping updates to them on Mac 10.6-10.8 up until the end of ESR45, which would be 45.9.0. That's what we said we were doing here: https://blog.mozilla.org/futurereleases/2016/04/29/update-on-firefox-support-for-os-x/

So, bumping the rule when we release the next ESR versions (Tuesday March 7) sounds correct to me.

Sylvestre, does that sound right to you? Or, should 45.7.0 be the last update we ship to those users for some reason I'm not thinking of here?

I would think we would want the final ESR45, yes. When I filed this bug I assume I thought that was 45.8.0 for whatever reason...
yeah, 45.9.0 is going to be the last esr release. We propose updates to users to 52.2.0 when 54 is released.

okay great, I've moved the rule to a staging channel with a note to update it to 45.9.0 when that is released: https://aus4-admin.mozilla.org/rules/523

If not cancelled, these rules are gonna be enacted next Monday at 4pm UTC. Do these rules look correct to you, Ben?

I think you should limit sc_id 48 to the relevant Darwin platforms, too. Otherwise we add an unnecessary watershed for users updating to 52.0. Looks fine otherwise.
