Details
When I close a tab, the tab that appears to its immediate left is focussed. Ideally, the tab I was using before focussing and closing the current tab should be refocussed (i.e. the 2nd most recently focussed tab should be refocussed). Say I have tabs A B C D E 1. I click on A to focus 2. I click on E to focus 3. I close E In this case, tab D becomes focussed. It would be preferable if Mozilla remembered which tabs I had used, and refocussed tab A. This would make things more consistent with new windows, but may be difficult to implement, as window focus is presumably handled by the window manager.

dup of 105722 Closing tabs should return to 'parent' tab. (the question is: what is the parent?) *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of 105722 ***
