Details

From Bugzilla Helper: User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.0; en-US; rv:0.9.8+) Gecko/20020224 BuildID: 2002-02-24-08 Every nightly since 2002-02-15-06 fails to show the Enter Password dialogue when starting Mozilla. This means that clicking Get Messages results in an error, "Could not connect to server <servername>: the connection was refused". I have tried several nightlies since 2002-02-15-06 and all have shown this problem. When installing a new nightly I have uninstalled the old one using Add/Remove Programs, then deleted the remaining directories under Program Files to ensure a completely clean install. I have also tried creating a new profile but the problem still exists. I see this problem on my work machine where the POP server is on the LAN. At home (also W2K) I build Mozilla from source several times a week and have never seen this problem. The POP server in this case is my ISP's accessed through a dialup. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Uninstall Mozilla. 2. Install a new nightly (later than 2002-02-15-06) 3. Start Mozilla and Mail/News 4. The POP password dialogue will not appear 5. Click Get Messages, a "connection refused" message will appear Another user has reported in n.p.m.mail-news seeing this problem. See later posts in the thread "M/N crashes afew browsing a few new emails in recent nightlies...."
I should have mentioned that I can reinstall 2002-02-15-06 and it will *always* work correctly both with the original user profile and with new profiles
Can you try installing mozilla in a new directory ? I have a few pop3 accts all seem to be working!
