I tried an install of 2/25 windows commercial nightly build (trunk, Setup.exe) on a machine that only had 40M or so free, and kept getting not-enough-space errors from the installer. The number it wanted was ! 122M. I freed up about 96M and still it complained. Confused, I back-tracked and re-installed 6.2.1, worked fine. I think the number 6.2.1 posted was something like 22M. Windows 2000, if that helps.
We *do* take up more space. My 6.2.1 installation dir is 20M, my MachV dir with equivalent options is 25M. The installer must ask for additional space to contain the downloaded archives during the install, plus working space to uncompress each archive in turn. The one number that really stands out, though, is that a recent config.ini lists the "Installer Size" of the new JRE as 71Mb just by itself. Whoa! Everything else combined added up to 58Mb. We did get a new JRE compared to 6.2, but that still sounds like a lot. Please try this on a Mozilla build and see if it's this far out of line. I suspect this is a commercial-only problem due to mis-estimating the space required of the 3rd party add-ons.
I installed a mozilla trunk build just prior to the netscape build, no problems. I would have run into the 122M problem at that point for sure, I hadn't been warned about space at all and had not made any room before the mozilla install.
not a mozilla bug. JRE is Netscape only

Dan is away for the week. I opened bugscape bug 12398 to track this. Dan can transfer any specific info he wants over to that bug when he gets back.
