Steps to reproduce:
1. Place cursor in a text field on any site.
2. Press Control + Command + Space, the Emoji & Symbols panel pops up.
3. Select a symbol, click on it
Actual results:
The symbol isn't added to the text field contents
Expected results:
The symbol is added to the text field contents

I tested this issue on Mac OS X 10.11 and 10.11 with FF 47 release, FF 48 and FF Nightly 50.0a1(2016-06-16) and I couldn't reproduce it.
Please create a new profile, you have the steps here:https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/profile-manager-create-and-remove-firefox-profiles?redirectlocale=en-US&redirectslug=Managing-profiles#w_starting-the-profile-manager
Also test if the issue can be reproduced in the safe mode of Firefox: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/troubleshoot-firefox-issues-using-safe-mode
