As per comments 79 ~ 87 in bug 887934, we should consider to

* replace with a not English specific icon
* make icon able to be brighter when closed caption is enabled
Hi Stephan,

This bug may within the scope of bug 1271765, however we could regard this as a refinement of current UI and land in the same release.

1. As discussion in bug 887934, speech bubble is a good option but already used in other places. Should we come up with new icon?
2. If we decided not to change the design, the present icon is composed of a stroked text "CC" and border. It should have fine distinction between closed caption is enabled(opacity:1) and disabled(opacity:0.7). Could we make stroked text solid and brighter?

Thanks

On IRC shorlander said that he is going to talk to Carol about this on Wednesday. CC'ing Carol to this bug now, but I'll leave the needinfo on it.
Thank you Jared!

More information to clarify the intention:

This attachment provides the comparison of brightness when CC is on(opacity: 1) and off(opacity: 0.7). The control bar's background color (grey part): rgba(35,31,32,.74).

Current CC icon: https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/attachment.cgi?id=8389365

Basically, I expect that the CC button could be as bright(white) as volume when enabled.
