FTP doesn't seem to be working in recent nightly builds of the client (over the last three weeks or so). I can browse sweetlou directories using ftp, but when I try to download a new trunk build, the download window opens but I can never get past zero bytes downloaded. To get a new client, I have to copy the URL and paste it into Internet Explorer.
This works correctly using the Feb 8, 2002 build and appears to have regressed since then.

Can you try the patch for bug 127003, and see if that helps? I don't have access to that server to test on.
My guess for the cause would be bug 122913, but that was checked in on the 7th.
works for me on linux with a current cvs build. possibly something specific to the mac, the commercial build, or the nightlies. :)
I've been using ftp in recent NS builds on Mac OS 8.6 to download from sweetlou.
need more info [adt needinfo] if it can be reproduced then its a plus.

That's funny; the identical build that didn't work a week ago now works fine after IS fixed the network delays. Could this have something to do our browser not handling network delays or retries properly during a download?

Its unlikely to be ftp in that case. We don't cache files either, so its not that. There have been several bugs on this in the last couple of weeks, with downloads stalling. See bug 128553 and friends.
Should this be duped off of one of those bugs then?
Yeah, ok. See bug 129364, too, which has a checkin *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of 128553 ***
