I thought I had a bug report on this :)   Still points to https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/contribute/ and they delisted Thunderbird at least a year ago. Even then it was a crap shoot for a user to find Thunderbird.

Perhaps we make this a priority now.

Sancus, do you get stats for redirects?  It would be good to see statistics, which wiki doesn't provide. And until we sort out a new get involved page, maybe change would it make sense to have a thunderbird.net get involved link that can redirect to wherever the current (currently wiki) and future home might be. What do you think?

(I also pointed to Ryan that https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/products/thunderbird contribute link is wrong for us, and that there is no method for users to get to the Thunderbird home page - we need to sort that out)

There aren't any redirects for this as far as I can tell. It's a hardcoded URL to mozilla.org/contribute right in the dialog template: https://dxr.mozilla.org/comm-central/source/mail/base/content/aboutDialog.xul

So I guess we need to change that. Because there's no redirect and the link opens in Firefox when clicked, it's not actually possible to distinguish our traffic to that page from Firefox's.

Only looking for href="http://www.mozilla.org you can see a few hard-coded links:
https://dxr.mozilla.org/comm-central/search?q=href%3D%22http%3A%2F%2Fwww.mozilla.org&redirect=false

The ones in aboutDialog.xul and also accountProvisioner.xhtml.

What about:
Thunderbird is designed by mozilla.org, a global community working ...

Shouldn't that also change to:
Thunderbird is designed by thunderbird.net, a global community working ...
with links to our site?

As I said, there's a whole lot more to it. mozilla.org comes out everywhere, mostly through the string vendorShortName.

We need to come up with a concept to change all this. Right now, only the "get involved" link as requested and one in the account provisioner.

Looks fine to me. I agree we should clean up all these old links gradually. I'm not sure if we want to remove general linking to mozilla org and any mozilla-related branding.

If it's been decided we are going to do that, then we should file a bug for that and do it everywhere at once.
