User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 6.1; Win64; x64; rv:47.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/47.0
Build ID: 20160623154057

Steps to reproduce:

1. Go to either of these two pages
http://dustybook.com/mainbook1cnew.html
http://dustybook.com/mainbook1cnew2.html

2. After page loads, go to url bar and press enter to reload the page
3. After page loads, press reload button
4. After page loads, go to url bar and press enter to reload the page

This additionally occurs in Desktop Firefox as well as Android.

(I should also mention that I tried many combinations of adding and removing tags and classes to the pages to try and make this trigger reliably)

Actual results:

1. Reader Mode icon not visible
2. Reader Mode icon visible, but using does not identify next/prev links
3. Reader Mode icon not visible
4. Reader Mode icon visible, but using does not identify next/prev links

Expected results:

1. Reader Mode icon visible, picks up Next/Prev links
2. Reader Mode icon visible, picks up Next/Prev links
3. Reader Mode icon visible, picks up Next/Prev links
4. Reader Mode icon visible, picks up Next/Prev links
(Step 1 may show the icon, but refreshing makes it vanish)
I've encountered a similar bug in regular Firefox.

It depends on the site. Some don't show the reader view icon the 1st time I load the page, but might on the 2nd or 3rd time. I think this is the same behavior described above. Some don't go into reader view the 1st or 2nd time I click the icon, reloading into painful view, but might on the 3rd or 4th time. I think this may be another bug. Some don't render the articles when I go into reader view.
Hello,

I've tested this on a Nexus 9 (Android 7.0) and I could not reproduce the issue, could you please provide a bit more information?

1. Device type & Android version
2. Addons installed that you thing might be causing this issue
3. Is the issue occurring on any other websites? Or is it just the one?

1. I don't know why this got put as Firefox for Android.
This is a desktop firefox issue.

2. Happens on a fresh profile with no addons

3. It happens with the HTML on those pages, regardless of the site, I don't know for sure about other sites as I have not tried.

You have mentioned in your initial comment that it's reproducible for both desktop and Android. Changing the product to desktop based on Comment 4. Please let us know if the issue is still noticeable on Android as well.

Component: Reader View → General
Product: Firefox for Android → Firefox
Cross platform Reader code exists in Toolkit.
Component: General → Reader Mode
Product: Firefox → Toolkit
The links in comment #0 don't work anymore so it's impossible to diagnose why this was happening, or if indeed it is or isn't still happening on current versions of Firefox / reader mode.
