Once bug 1284472 is done, and bug 1271860 pushed to Fennec Nightly, we won't need to keep this service around anymore. Older clients will simply fail when trying to update their experiments. Adding the Fennec folks to that issue to make sure everyone agrees on that "brutal" (but simple) switch :)

Maybe we should wait with that until the new code has hit release (+ X days depending on how fast our population usually updates)? I think there are some experiments out there that we would like to keep enabled. If they are temporarily off after an app update (because of the migration) then this is acceptable but I think we want to keep things like "bookmark-history-menu" enabled. For clients older than the release version I think we can make this hard decision and let them fall back to default.
Yes, we need to monitor update rates, since users don't all automatically update. If it's not too much trouble, I feel like we should just keep the old service around for a while.

Update: the service still receives traffic. In November the rate was ~300rq/s, at the time of writing it is more like ~40rq/s.
Interesting. Can you see the user agents? This should be Firefox <= 49.0 only.
Yes, it looks like the incoming traffic is all from <= 49.0.
I think the time has come. Switchboard gets 10-15rq/s. Here is a image of the traffic dropoff since November: http://i.imgur.com/Y9lezZb.png. Sebastian, ok to pull the plug? IIRC there were always sane fallback defaults in place.
