Steps to reproduce:
I uninstalled and reinstalled tbird. Removed and re-added accounts. Disabled all of bitdefender.
Actual results:
Works ok for awhile, then hangs, particularly when trying to delete an email, and MAY say, cannot connect to server. But it does, if Iwait long enough
Expected results:
Tbird should not hang at all

Start *Windows'* safe mode with networking enabled
- win10 http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-10/change-startup-settings-in-windows-10
Still In Windows safe mode, start thunderbird in safe mode

Does problem go away?

Is this still happening?
Is "cannot connect to server" the precise wording?
Is this only happening for gmail?

Yes, it still will say that...and I only use gmail. the thing is, I get all my emails, and it doesn't hang. Works fine, but still get message "cannot connect to server" despite getting all my messages??? go figure

If it doesn't happen in safe mode then the problem lies outside Thunderbird, or a is an addon you installed in thunderbird.
